The Silent Citadel

No maps marked this place.

Beyond the northern seas, past the last trading routes and frozen storms, there lay a land swallowed by ice and fog. Sailors called it The White Expanse, a continent where the wind never rested and the sky seemed carved from stone.

Few who reached it ever returned.

Deep within the frozen valley stood the Citadel of Kharos—a city once carved into a towering glacier by a civilization long forgotten. Its spires rose like jagged teeth from the ice, half-buried by centuries of snow and drifting frost.

For a thousand years it had slept.

But the ice was beginning to change.

In the valley below, strange crystals glowed faintly beneath the snow—shards of violet light buried in the frozen ground. At night they pulsed softly, as if something deep beneath the mountains was breathing.

Travelers who wandered too close sometimes heard distant echoes: metal doors grinding open, low mechanical hums, or footsteps where no one walked.

Legends said the citadel was not a ruin.

It was a machine.

A machine built to guard something sealed beneath the ice—something so powerful that an entire civilization vanished trying to contain it.

Now the glaciers were cracking.

And somewhere inside the Silent Citadel, the ancient mechanisms had begun to wake again.
